Mandate of the Expert Committee
I. Mission of the Committee
The Expert Committee serves as a vital think tank of the association. It brings together professionals from various sectors of the art world to provide expert support and strategic advice on artistic direction, academic standards, exhibition judging, and public programming. Its purpose is to promote the development of contemporary artistic expression and multicultural art in Canada.
II. Core Responsibilities
1. Academic and Artistic Guidance
• Advise on the thematic planning and content direction of the association’s exhibitions, competitions, and art projects.
• Provide support in art and cultural research to enhance the academic depth and societal value of CACDA’s initiatives.
2. Evaluation and Selection
• Serve as jurors for various selection activities organized by the association, including art competitions and exhibition submissions.
• Establish evaluation criteria to ensure fairness, integrity, and high artistic standards.
3. Project Planning and Advisory Support
• Assist in curating influential art events, lectures, forums, and other public programs.
• Offer consultation on the association’s strategic planning, cultural policy alignment, and collaborative initiatives.
4. Promotion of Multiculturalism
• Advocate for values of inclusion, equality, and respect for differences, and promote multilingual, multi-ethnic, and diverse artistic practices.
• Act as advisors and advocates for intercultural artistic exchange.
5. International Liaison and Resource Referral
• Build bridges for collaboration with domestic and international art institutions, universities, foundations, and cultural organizations.
• Recommend outstanding artists and resources to expand the association’s reach and influence.
III. Composition and Term
• Members are invited by the CACDA Board of Directors and represent fields such as visual arts, curatorial practice, art education, museums, galleries
